Hello everyone,
This is Kiki, here to let you know that the dance class at the Arts and Entertainment Center in North Park is a go (many thanks to Troy) , and will begin Saturday March 11, 2006 from 4-6 pm. Now before I give out any additional information, I need to say this: The arts, next to language is the highest form are cultural expression. African dance is vital to our experience as a people. It is the means by which those living in the present are able to connect with our ancestors and future generations to come, expand our worldview, and express ourselves. Dance strengthens our sense of purpose by unifying memory and hope, inspiring courage, improving self-esteem, and enhancing celebration. So come out and support and celebrate our culture through movement, rhythm and song.
This is a two hour class is for beginner and intermediate students. It will include 30 minutes of core conditioning, 30 minutes of technique training, a high energy 50 minute apply what you just learned to the drum stamina and endurance session, and the last 10 minutes will be reservved for Q&A and to review steps you may have had problems with. These clases will be taught in 4-6 week sessions, in which we focus on one dance at a time, learning the basic steps, variations, transitions, and combinations.
The cost per session is $15 for 2 hours. However, the following disounts are being offered:
